一、今日六つ半時過ぎに供揃えが整うとすぐに出宅し、御用番の戸田采女正殿のもとへ参上し、中勝手へ通されて用人が呼び出され、願書を差し出した旨を申し述べたところ、急遽対客之間でお目にかかることになったと用人が申し聞かせ、しばらく経ってから用人の案内で対客之間へ出て、入側に控えて待機していたところ

1. Today, shortly after half past the hour of the Horse (around 1:30 PM), as soon as the retinue was assembled, I departed from my residence and proceeded to visit Toda Uneme-no-shō, who was on duty as御用番 (goyōban). I was led through the middle service area where the steward was summoned, and I reported that I had come to submit a petition. The steward informed me that I would be granted an immediate audience in the guest reception room. After a short while, guided by the steward, I entered the guest reception room and waited in attendance at the side entrance.
