老衆が出仕し芙蓉之間へ列座する際、扇子を後ろへ置き、大目付の脇に出て着座した。大目付の会釈があったので、自分並びに左近将監は芙蓉之間へ出て平伏したところ、周防守の病気により願いの通り隠居が仰せ付けられ、家督は相違なく左近将監に下され、雁之間の席が仰せ付けられた旨を御用番から仰せ渡されたので、左近将監より有り難い旨の御礼を申し上げ、両人で退去した。
一、退出の際、中之口に周防守の留守居がおりましたので、仰せ渡された趣旨を申し聞かせ、それから周防守の名代として御礼のため老若回り勤めの口上書を持参し、玄関にて取次へ申し置いて帰宅いたしました。
一、西丸へは名代のため登城いたしませんでした。

When the senior officials came out and took their seats in rows in the Fuyō-no-ma, I placed my fan behind me and went to sit beside the ōmetsuke (chief inspector). After the ōmetsuke's greeting, both I and Sakon Shōgen went out to the Fuyō-no-ma and prostrated ourselves. The goyōban (duty official) announced that due to Suō-no-kami's illness, his request for retirement had been granted as requested, the family headship would be transferred without issue to Sakon Shōgen, and he was being assigned a seat in the Kari-no-ma. Sakon Shōgen expressed his gratitude for this gracious arrangement, and both of us withdrew.
1. Upon leaving, Suō-no-kami's caretaker was waiting at the Naka-no-guchi, so I informed him of what had been announced. Then, as substitute for Suō-no-kami, I brought a written statement for the courtesy rounds to the senior and junior officials for thanks, left it with the attendant at the entrance, and returned home.

In the manner of taking seats in rows in the Fuyō-no-ma, we moved to position two and sat down. After the ōmetsuke's greeting, we moved to position three where Sakon Shōgen and I prostrated ourselves together.
