On the first day of the tenth month, they departed from Fukuda Port in Yamana District of the same province, but due to unfavorable winds, they were blown to Toba Port in Ise. Here they waited for better weather, and on the 12th of the same month departed from Toba. However, strong northwest winds gradually blew them out to sea, and by evening they were off Yokosuka in Enshū Province. That night the wind grew even stronger, eventually breaking their rudder and causing them to drift sideways. When dawn broke on the 13th, they found themselves unexpectedly far out at sea, and had no choice but to throw their cargo overboard to lighten the ship.
