【囲みの外】富貴すみれとも隠れ蓑とも言う。葉の形は花蔓のようで、切れ込みが深く、葉は柔らかで小葉である。茎は紫色。花は白く、すみれのような花が咲く。この種類で花や葉が変わったものが三種類ある。葉が細長いものがあり、丸葉もある。丸いものを壷すみれという。花に紫、白があり、皆地丁（すみれ）である。
また他に三国草と呼ぶ草があり、場所によって名前が変わる草もあるので、別の三国草という草がある。どれを言うのか疑わしい。花は三月から八、九月まで咲く。

【囲みの外】花の数は多い。大えびねというのは花の色が本黄で、大体鱗がある。万えびねは花の色が大えびねと同じで大鱗が大きい。南京も花の色は同じ。金紫というのは花びらが濃い柿紅で艶があり、花の内側の舌も共に本黄である。茶金というのは花びらが青紫で、舌も共に同じ色で少し薄い。
出船えびねは汚れ白に薄紫のかすりがあり、舌も同じ。葉えびねは黄に青い移りがあり、花の外側は中黄。

内側の舌も共に白い。紅樺えびねがあり、花びらは移り白に少し赤みがある。紫のえびねは濃い紫の打ち抜きで、花びら、舌共に同じ色。鹿子えびねは白に紅の星が入る。白えびねは花びら、舌共に汚れ白である。花びらが青白く舌が白いものを御簾手えびねという。花びらが青紫で舌が白く紅の色が差すものを紅えびねという。また雪白、本紅がある。夏えびねがあり、秋えびねがある。夏えびねは黄に青い移りがあり、四、五月に咲く。秋えびねは七、八月に咲く。花の色は薄桜色で、舌も同じ。花や葉は共に変わらず、咲く時期に違いがある。

【囲みの外】花の形は桜草のようで、花びらが厚く、茎が立ち回りに咲く。茎の立ち方は太く立ち伸びて、段々に咲く。色は数種あり、白、紅、あるいは雪白、源氏、また薄色の咲き分けがある。地紅で花びらの縁が白いものを源氏九輪草という。三、四月に花がある。

【Outside the box】Also called fukki-sumire or kakuremino. The leaf shape is like flowering vines, with deep cuts, and the leaves are soft and small. The stem is purple in color. White flowers bloom that resemble violets. There are three varieties of this type with different flowers and leaves. Some have narrow, long leaves, and some have round leaves. The round ones are called tsubo-sumire (pot violets). The flowers come in purple and white, and all are jichō (violets).
There are also other grasses called three-country grass, and since there are grasses whose names change depending on location, there is a separate grass called three-country grass. It is unclear which one is being referred to. The flowers bloom from March to August or September.

【Outside the box】There are many flowers. What is called large calanthe has flowers of hon-yellow color with generally scales. Man-calanthe has the same flower color as large calanthe with large scales. Nanking also has the same flower color. What is called gold-purple has flower petals of deep persimmon-red with luster, and the inner tongue is also hon-yellow. What is called tea-gold has blue-purple flower petals, and the tongue is the same color but slightly lighter.
Defune-calanthe has dirty white with light purple mottling, and the tongue is the same. Leaf-calanthe has yellow with blue gradation, and the flower exterior is medium yellow.

The inner tongue is also white. There is crimson birch calanthe, with flower petals of gradated white with slight redness. Purple calanthe is of deep purple throughout, with flower petals and tongue of the same color. Kanoko calanthe has white with red spots. White calanthe has flower petals and tongue that are both dirty white. Those with blue-white flower petals and white tongue are called gosude calanthe. Those with blue-purple flower petals and white tongue with red coloring are called crimson calanthe. There are also snow-white and true-crimson varieties. There are summer calanthe and autumn calanthe. Summer calanthe has yellow with blue gradation and blooms in April and May. Autumn calanthe blooms in July and August. The flower color is light cherry, and the tongue is the same. Both flowers and leaves remain unchanged, with differences only in blooming season.

【Outside the box】The flower shape is like that of primrose, with thick petals, and the stems stand and bloom all around. The stem stance is thick, standing and extending, blooming in tiers. There are several colors: white, crimson, or snow-white, genji, and also light-colored variants. Those with ground crimson and white-edged flower petals are called genji nine-ring grass. Flowers appear in March and April.
