　悪きと知べし右まぶしへ入次第闇処よし屋根樑
　の上へ乗せ三夜程置き四日目には繭をはかし
　天日にて干す若し雨天なれは内へひろげ置き成
　たけ外にて五六日も毎日干を良とす加減は晴
　天なれは三日位なり干し過れは糸口不立也なま
　加減をよしとす干時は幾度も返し干すへし上
　斗り乾て下なまなれは糸口切れに成り又干時
　急雨抔にて内へ取こみ直に箱へ入るゝは悪し少し
　広けいきをぬきて箱に入置べきなり子種一枚に
　付三尺四方位の藁だ百少余りに成るは上の出
　来方と知るべし
一繭を釜に入煮加減の時桑の細き枝を入揚れは
　糸口出るなり又西国辺にてはむくげの枝を用ゆ

一蚕簿是をゑびらと云蓆一枚の四方の角を綴て
　箱の如くに拵て此中へまぶしを幾等も入れ蚕を
　入れは糸をまぶしへ引き繭を作るなり
一或云蚕の箔中【注】に繭を結ひ造り終り上に近く陽に
　向を上の繭とす箔中の上にあるは多く雄蚕の
　繭なり下にあるは雌蚕の繭なり又雄繭は尖紅緊

【注　 蚕をのせて飼育する道具を蚕箔あるいは蚕座などと言う。藁で作った円座のようなもの(わらだ)や、竹で作った目の大きなザルのようなものがある。】

【右丁】
　悪いと知るべし。右のまぶしへ入れ次第、暗い所が良い。屋根梁
　の上へ載せ三夜程置き、四日目には繭を外し、
　天日で干す。もし雨天なれば室内に広げ置き、でき
　るだけ外で五六日も毎日干すのを良いとする。加減は晴
　天なれば三日位なり。干し過ぎれば糸口が立たない。生乾き
　加減を良しとする。干す時は何度も返して干すべし。上
　ばかり乾いて下が生乾きなれば糸口が切れになり、また干している時
　急雨などで室内へ取り込み、直ちに箱へ入れるのは悪い。少し
　風を通して湿気を抜いてから箱に入れ置くべきなり。蚕種一枚に
　つき三尺四方位の藁座が百少し余りになるのは上出来
　と知るべし。
一、繭を釜に入れ煮る加減の時、桑の細い枝を入れ上げれば
　糸口が出るなり。また西国辺りではムクゲの枝を用いる。

一、蚕簿、これをえびらと言う。筵一枚の四方の角を綴じて
　箱のように作り、この中へまぶしを幾つも入れ、蚕を
　入れれば、糸をまぶしへ引き、繭を作るなり。

　向いているのを上の繭とする。箔中の上にあるのは多く雄蚕の

　are bad, as one should know. As soon as they enter the mabushi, a dark place is good. Place them on top of roof beams for about three nights, and on the fourth day remove the cocoons and dry them in sunlight. If it's rainy, spread them indoors, but it's best to dry them outside every day for five or six days if possible. The proper timing is about three days in clear weather. If over-dried, the silk thread ends won't emerge properly. A slightly moist condition is considered good. When drying, they should be turned over many times. If only the top dries while the bottom remains damp, the thread ends will break. Also, when sudden rain forces you to bring them inside while drying, putting them directly into boxes is bad. One should let them air out a bit to remove moisture before placing them in boxes. For one sheet of silkworm eggs, having a bit over one hundred straw mats of about three shaku square is considered excellent results.

1. When boiling cocoons in a pot, if thin mulberry branches are added and lifted, the silk thread ends will emerge. In western regions, hibiscus branches are used.

1. Silkworm book - this is called "ebira." The four corners of one mat are sewn together to make it like a box, and many mabushi are placed inside. When silkworms are put in, they draw silk to the mabushi and make cocoons.

1. Someone says that when cocoons are completed in the silkworm trays, those near the top facing the sun are considered superior cocoons. Those at the top of the trays are mostly male silkworm cocoons. Those at the bottom are female silkworm cocoons. Also, male cocoons are pointed, small, and tight.
