貞応二癸未年法灯国師此山ニ来リ山
居有シ草庵ノ跡ヲ指月順慮和尚
永禄四辛酉年ヨリ同七甲子年退住
居レケル此時甲斐沼重久鴛鴦ノ
真菰ヲ池ニ水遊セシヲ見テ弓ニテ鴦ノ
首ヲ射切リタリ天正十三年乙酉年鴛
鴦ノ為ニ桜井安芸守重久伽藍ヲ
《見せ消ち：再》建立之給フテ山号ヲ鴛鴦山ト云ヒ寺
ヲ東光寺ト号シテ後万治三子年九

鴛鴦山東光寺縁起
貞応2年（1223年）癸未の年、法灯国師がこの山に来て山居していた草庵の跡を、指月順慮和尚が永禄4年辛酉の年（1561年）から同7年甲子の年（1564年）まで住持として居住していた。この時、甲斐の沼重久が鴛鴦（おしどり）の真菰（まこも）を池で水遊びしているのを見て、弓で鴦（おしどり）の首を射切った。天正13年乙酉の年（1585年）、鴛鴦のために桜井安芸守重久が伽藍を建立し、山号を鴛鴦山といい、寺を東光寺と号した。その後、万治3年子の年（1660年）9月、当寺2代目の一翁和尚の時、峯山寺5代目の竹巌和尚を招いて開山を改め、峯

The Origins of Ōōzan Tōkōji Temple
In the 2nd year of Jōō (1223), the year of mizunoto-hitsuji, Dharma Lamp National Master came to this mountain and lived in a grass hermitage on the mountain. Later, the Zen master Shigetsu Jun'ryo resided there as head priest from the 4th year of Eiroku, kanoto-tori (1561) to the 7th year, kinoe-ne (1564). At this time, Numa Shigehisa of Kai saw mandarin ducks playing in the water among the wild rice plants in the pond, and shot off the head of a male duck with his bow. In the 13th year of Tenshō, kinoto-tori (1585), Sakurai Aki-no-kami Shigehisa built a temple complex for the sake of the mandarin ducks, naming the mountain Ōōzan (Mandarin Duck Mountain) and the temple Tōkōji.
