之仕合為御法式切腹被仰付候段家中之面〻無是非次第
然共吉良上野殿存生之間心底急度差含候訳も候へ共
内匠弟大学儀閉門被仰付置候故江戸之御家老共初傍輩
共覚語【「悟」カ】區〻ニ而其節存念相達候段血気之様申成シ必死之
相談仕掛候而も一圓不相調候ニ付而此段無是非次第ニ存
拙者儀同志之傍輩共両人申合早速播州江罷越候而
志を立候家老大石内蔵助初其外侍大将物頭共
江致對談於城内必死之覚語相究候処大学案否
不相知内ニ懸宿意候段大学為ニ不宜と内匠一門
中より追〻被申越其上江戸ニ罷在候家老共ゟ大学指図
之様申越此度必死仕候ハヽ大学腰を押候様ニ相見へ候得共奉對
上如何様之由申と候而於城内必死相究候面〻も不及是非
離散仕候然共上野殿存命之事ニ候へは是切之覚悟ニも
無之候間重而相談シ相究可申と何レも堅く申合
置候然ル処去夏以後區〻之了簡相談も前後仕餘り
延候ニ成行候故私義當六月十八日江戸表出立致上京大石
内蔵助初其外之面〻江も對談一決之相談弥相調
候節ニ至り七月十八日大学閉門被遊御免藝州廣嶋江

この仕合わせにより御法式の切腹を仰せ付けられた段、家中の面々も仕方のない次第でした。
しかしながら吉良上野殿が存命の間は、心底をきっと含ませる訳もございましたが、
内匠の弟大学殿が閉門を仰せ付けられ置かれた故、江戸の御家老共をはじめ傍輩
共も覚悟を区々にして、その節の存念を相達した段、血気のように申し成し、必死の
相談を仕掛けても一向に調わなかったため、この段仕方のない次第と存じ、
拙者は同志の傍輩共両人と申し合わせ、早速播州へ罷り越し、
志を立てた家老大石内蔵助をはじめ、その外侍大将物頭共と
対談を致し、城内において必死の覚悟を相究めたところ、大学の案否が
相知れない内に宿意を懸けた段、大学のためによろしくないと内匠一門
中より追々申し越され、その上江戸に罷り在る家老共より大学の指図の
様に申し越し、この度必死を仕すれば大学の腰を押すように相見えるが故、御上に対し
いかがなものかと申すことで、城内において必死を相究めた面々も是非に及ばず
離散いたしました。しかしながら上野殿存命のことでございますれば、これ切りの覚悟でも
ございませんので、重ねて相談し相究めるべきと何れも堅く申し合わせ
置きました。然るところ去る夏以後、区々の了簡相談も前後し、余り
延び候に成り行いた故、私は当六月十八日江戸表を出立し上京、大石
内蔵助をはじめその外の面々とも対談、一決の相談がいよいよ調った
節に至り、七月十八日大学の閉門が御免になり芸州広島へ

known, the fact that we harbored vengeful intentions was deemed unwise for Daigaku's sake, as repeatedly conveyed by members of Takumi's clan,
and furthermore, the senior retainers remaining in Edo sent word that seemed like instructions from Daigaku,
saying that if we carried out this desperate act now, it would appear as if we were supporting Daigaku's position, which would be
inappropriate toward the authorities. Thus, even those who had resolved upon desperate action within the castle had no choice but to
disperse. However, since Kozuke-no-suke remained alive, this was not
a final resolution, so we all firmly agreed to
hold further consultations and reach a conclusion. However, since last summer, various considerations and consultations became confused and
prolonged excessively. Therefore, I departed Edo on June 18th of this year and went up to the capital, where I held discussions with Oishi
Kuranosuke and others, and just when our decisive consultation was finally coming together,
on July 18th Daigaku's house arrest was lifted and he was sent to Hiroshima in Aki Province
