一五六日以前ハ四条麩屋町角より出火　麩屋町
　通りハ南側綾小路みの裏丁右両側之裏丁之
　裏之方四条西へ富小路まて夜九半時頃より翌
　朝六ツ時過迄焼申候　是も當地ニ而ハ珍敷大火ニ御座候
一今日迄ニ及見聞候損所
　御所御築地瓦落候儀は夥敷　御文庫拾三ハ大損
　ニ候　二条　　御城北側塀悉く御城へ打崩れ　西の方
　御門共塀も崩れ申候　御米蔵も壱弐ヶ所倒れ
　申候　御築地内摂家堂方堂上損所筆紙ニ難尽

申し上げるべきことがございます。この件についてはご心配をおかけすることと存じます。

一、五六日前には四条麩屋町の角から出火し、麩屋町通りの南側、綾小路から裏町、その両側の裏町のさらに奥の方、四条西から富小路まで、夜九時半頃から翌朝午前七時過ぎまで燃え続けました。これも当地では珍しい大火でございました。

一、今日までに見聞きした被害状況
御所の築地の瓦が落ちたことは夥しく、御文庫十三は大損です。二条城では北側の塀がすべて城内に打ち崩れ、西の方の御門とも塀も崩れました。御米蔵も一、二ヶ所倒れました。御築地内の摂家方、堂上方の損害は筆紙に尽くしがたいものがございます。淀城の矢倉も潰れたということです。もちろん地面の割れた所も町々に夥しくあります。

一、三日から諸社にて御祈祷をお命じになったこと

一、きっと程なく年号の改元があるのではないかと存じます。お蔭参りはございますが、伊勢では別宮が炎上し、その上この度の大変事で、もはやこの後は何事もないよう祈っております。まったく恐ろしいことです。

一、先月小倉中将殿が急死され、またその父君である中納言殿も急死されました。一ヶ月のうちに父子が急死するとは珍しいことでございます。

First, five or six days ago, a fire broke out from the corner of Shijo and Fuyacho. It burned from around 9:30 in the evening until past 7:00 the next morning, consuming the south side of Fuyacho street, from Ayanokoji to the back streets, both sides of the back streets and their rear areas, and from west Shijo to Tominokoji street. This too was an unusually large fire for this area.

The roof tiles falling from the Imperial Palace walls were enormous in number. The Imperial Library No. 13 suffered major damage. At Nijo Castle, the north side walls all collapsed inward toward the castle, and the western gates and walls also crumbled. One or two of the rice storehouses also collapsed. The damage to the regent houses and court nobles' residences within the palace grounds is beyond description. The turret of Yodo Castle also collapsed, they say. First, I believe there will surely be a change of era name before long. Although there are thanksgiving pilgrimages to Ise, the auxiliary shrine at Ise has burned down, and with this great disaster on top of that, I pray earnestly that nothing more will happen hereafter. It is truly, truly frightening.

First, last month Lord Ogura Chujo died suddenly, and his father, Lord Chunagon, also died suddenly. For father and son to die suddenly within one month is indeed a rare occurrence.
