内密で本人並びに番非人どもが詮議に参りましても、重々取り調べをする件でございます。しかしながら、もし見落とし等がございます節、表向きの御触れ達し同様にお咎めを仰せ付けられる御儀は、御宥免を仰せ付けくださいますよう願い上げます。このようでございますなら、御触れ達し、また内密での詮議も格別にお立てになることができるものと恐れながら存じます。何卒右の段々をお聞き召し分け、重々御評議を偏にお願い申し上げます。以上

The above petition from the city pawnshop representatives was submitted on the 6th day of the 11th month of Tenpō 7 (Saru year). When Yamada Gorōzaemon attended the district magistrate's office, through Oe Awa deputy Miki Chōzaemon, Kataoka Tsugizō served as intermediary and was instructed to present opinions on the matter above.
