【下巻十四丁裏】
▲京の街中へ、上様（将軍）より銀五千貫目を下賜される。上下（家臣・町人含む）家数が三万七千八十七軒あり、一軒につき銀百三十四匁八分二厘ずつ受け取る。
▲およそ京の街中の家を四万軒とし、一軒に人十人と平均して見積もると四十万人いることになる。これに対して米を一日五合ずつ支給するとすれば、一日に二千石ずつ必要となり、一ヶ月に六万石、一年間に七十二万石となる。
また、一軒に二十人と平均して見積もると、一日に四千石、一ヶ月に十二万石、一年間に百四十四万石ずつ必要となる。
【下巻十五丁表】
▲世間では商売がなくても、必ず米は売れるものである。いつでも同じことであると言えば、「米も売れない」という者がいる。これこそ不思議なことだと思うと、ある人が言うには——一人につき米一合ずつ、毎日食べ残すとする。計算に用いても、一年中に七十二日分食べ残すことになる。
京の街中だけでも、一日に四百石ずつ（食べ残しが）余ることになる。一ヶ月に一万二千石ずつ余ることになる。一年間には十四万四千石。これほどの量の米が売れ残ることになる。

▲ The Shogun grants 5,000 kan-me of silver to the city of Kyoto. There are 37,087 households (of all ranks, from samurai retainers to townspeople), and each household receives 134 monme, 8 fun, and 2 rin of silver.
▲ Assuming there are approximately 40,000 households in Kyoto, and estimating an average of 10 people per household, there would be 400,000 people. If rice were distributed at a rate of 5 gō per person per day, 2,000 koku would be needed per day, 60,000 koku per month, and 720,000 koku per year.
Furthermore, if estimated at an average of 20 people per household, 4,000 koku per day, 120,000 koku per month, and 1,440,000 koku per year would be needed.

▲ Even if there were no commerce in the world, rice would surely always sell — this being the same at any time. If someone says "even rice won't sell," one would find this puzzling. A certain person says: supposing each person wastes 1 gō of rice per day, over the course of a year that amounts to 72 days' worth wasted.
Even within Kyoto alone, 400 koku per day goes to waste, 12,000 koku per month goes to waste, and 144,000 koku over the course of a year. This is how much rice fails to sell (is left unsold).
