**[Volume 3, Folio 26, Verso]**
The result is 28 *kin* 35 (= 28.35 *kin*). When the meaning of "35" (i.e., 0.35) is unclear, multiply 160 *monme* (the weight of one *kin*) by 0.35, which gives 28 *kin* 56 *monme*. Dividing this 56 *monme* by 4 *monme* (since 1 *ryō* = 4 *monme*), the result is 28 *kin* 14 *ryō*, as can be understood.
Next, multiply thread/silk at 8,400 *kin* by 64 *kan* 800 *me*, giving 54,432. Dividing this by 160 *kan*-me gives 3,402 *kin*, as can be understood.
For rolled cloth as well, multiply 280 rolls by 64 *kan* 800 *me*, which gives 18,144. Dividing this by 160 *kan*-me gives 113 rolls and 4 (= 113.4 rolls). When the meaning of "4" (i.e., 0.4) is unclear, multiply the length of one roll — 3 *jō* 8 *shaku* — by 0.4, giving 113 rolls, 1 *jō* 5 *shaku* 2 *sun*, as can be understood.
The method for allocating the shares of the remaining two merchants (Sakai and Osaka) is the same as above.

**[Topic: Freight Calculation (*Unchin-zan*)]**
**On the matter of ship freight charges**
Suppose someone loads 250 *koku* of rice onto a ship to be delivered somewhere. The freight rate is 7 *koku* per 100 *koku*. When the freight is to be paid from within the said 250 *koku* (i.e., the payment is deducted from the cargo itself), how much is the freight?
**Answer:** 16 *koku* 3 *to* 5 *shō* 5 *gō* 1 *shaku* 4 *sai*.
