右の趣旨につき、御慈悲をもって願い上げ候通りにお聞き届けいただけますれば、有り難く幸いに存じ奉ります。以上。

Seven-year apprenticeship Kichiya
Age: 16 years old
I humbly petition that my second son, Kichiya, although not yet formally taken on as a live-in apprentice (*uchi-deshi*), be allowed to learn the trade of a shingle roofer (*kaki-yane-shi*). Although my son has not yet entered an apprenticeship period, I request that, as a second apprentice, he be permitted to pay the *omizuyaku* (water tax/guild fee) and be allowed to practice the trade independently.
I humbly ask that, in your great benevolence, this petition be granted as requested, for which I would be most deeply grateful. Respectfully submitted.
