They go up to the Umeya, and the boatman says "Kihachi-don, this is a country customer, so please take special care of him." Since he takes such excellent care of arrangements, things go smoothly. The proprietor says "That fellow doesn't drink at all, does he?" "How boring. I won't drink either." "How foolish," they say, and it becomes quite lively.
But Tamashin thinks this must be the custom of some province, and since he naturally doesn't speak much, this appears even more favorable, and the young courtesans are quite taken with him.
