右大臣菅原道真公は天子の御師範であったので、その徳を天満大自在天神と崇め、宮柱太く建てて年々の御祭礼を執り行う。今日は酉の日で、取り劣らぬ酉の年の新版、何も面白い案じもないので、こんなことで済ませて筆を止める。

Minister of the Right Sugawara no Michizane served as the Emperor's teacher, so his virtue is revered as Tenman Daijizai Tenjin (the great god Tenjin). A shrine with thick pillars was built, and annual festivals are held there. Today is the Day of the Rooster, and this is a new publication for the Year of the Rooster that is second to none. Having no particularly interesting ideas, I conclude with this and put down my brush.
