一 盗賊に関する件について、むやみに根拠のない風説を言い触らす者がいた場合は、調査の上、厳重に申し渡すこと
右の趣旨を万石以下の面々へ触れ回ること

盗賊等がいるとの話を聞いたため、川筋の方は御船手組の者が巡回し、怪しい者を召し捕った際は辻番所へ引き渡すこと。その組合から町奉行並びに火付盗賊改の役人へ引き渡すこと。もっとも、連れて行く人数はなるべく少人数で差し出すこと
右の趣旨は安藤対馬守様の御達しとのこと

1. Regarding matters concerning bandits and thieves, if there are those who carelessly spread unsubstantiated rumors, investigate and issue strict warnings to them.
The above instructions shall be communicated to all retainers of ten thousand koku and below.

As we have heard that there are bandits and thieves, regarding the riverside areas, members of the naval guard units (ofunade-gumi) shall patrol, and when suspicious persons are captured, they shall be handed over to the checkpoint stations (tsuji-bansho). From those units they shall be transferred to the town magistrates (machi-bugyō) and the fire and theft investigation officials (hi-kata tōzoku-aratame). However, the number of people accompanying them should be kept to as few as possible.
