現代語訳
一、公家衆への御馳走で御座敷番を仰せつけられた時は、中の間へ行って御料理を頂戴いたします。もっとも朝の登城の時に御目付衆へ届け出ておきます。
以前は御座敷奉行も決まっている間での頂戴でしたが、近頃は断りを申し上げて中の間へ移ることになりました。これにより御目付へ「御座敷奉行を仰せつけられた間は御料理を中の間にて頂戴する」旨を申し上げてあります。
一、仲ヶ間衆で万一遅れて登城する面々がいた場合は、相組から申し遣わします。
一、御三家方へ参る際は刀を抜いて持参いたします。通りかかる時は刀を抜いて手に持って上がります。
一、御盃を下される時は御酌の衆に向かって会釈をいたします。御肴は進上いたしません。よほどの理由がある場合は格別です。
一、御能などで登城の時に体調が悪い場合は、御中入り前は月番にも大目付にも必ず届け出ます。御中入り後は仲ヶ間への断りで帰ります。
一、紅葉山予参はもちろん長上下です。近頃は足袋を用います。ただし以前は決して足袋は用いませんでした。

1. When appointed to serve as座敷番 (seating attendant) for entertaining court nobles, one goes to the middle room (naka-no-ma) to partake of the御料理 (official cuisine). In the morning when going to the castle, one must report this to the metsuke (inspectors).
Previously, one would partake of food in the room where the座敷奉行 (seating magistrate) was stationed, but recently we have requested to move to the middle room instead. Therefore, we have informed the metsuke that "when appointed as座敷奉行, we will partake of the official cuisine in the middle room."
1. If any of the仲ヶ間衆 (middle room attendants) are late for castle duty, their group members shall send word.
1. When visiting the三家 (three Tokugawa branch families), one carries the sword drawn. When passing by, one carries the drawn sword in hand while ascending.
1. When receiving sake from His Lordship, one bows toward those serving the sake. One does not present side dishes, except in very special circumstances.
1. When attending castle for Noh performances and feeling unwell, before the intermission (o-chunyū) one must definitely report to both the monthly duty officer and the chief inspector. After the intermission, one may return home by notifying the middle room attendants.
1. For preliminary visits to Momijiyama, one naturally wears long formal dress (chō-kamishimo). Recently, tabi (split-toe socks) are used, though previously tabi were never used.
