*(Continuation from previous page)* — one should go out to inquire after the lord's well-being the following day.
Item — Regarding fires: even if a fire breaks out within the castle town, if the wind direction is favorable and it is merely a small fire, it is not necessary to go out. However, if it appears likely to become a large fire, one should go out. If the wind direction is unfavorable, one should go out even if it is only a small fire.

**[Pasted notice]**
On the 28th day of the 5th month of the 1st year of Kan'en (the year of the Dragon, 1748), Sasaji Gonuemon communicated the following in writing:
On this occasion, as the Young Lord (*Wakadono-sama*) is said to be greatly pleased (*go-ietsu*), red rice (*o-sekihan*) is to be distributed as a celebratory gift. Accordingly, all are to present themselves at the lord's residence (*go-zashō*) on the first day of next month at the half-past fifth hour (*goji-han*; approximately 8 p.m.).
Furthermore, as red rice is also to be distributed to the children who have already completed their formal audience (*o-mie*), they are to be informed that on the third day, after the fourth hour (*yoji-sugi*), at the seventh hour (*nanatsu*; approximately 4 p.m.), they should go to the storehouse and, upon being guided, proceed to the lord's residence.
*Provided, however, that children need not offer formal thanks (go-rei).*
