○御留守中御右筆部屋之儀今度下馬御門内御用長屋取補理向後於
彼方御用向取扱申候尤昼過差掛無拠御用向ハ是迄之通於月番宅
取扱筈ニ候左様可被相心得候以上
三月五日 月番 田辺五太夫殿 皆川多左衛門
追而明六日ゟ於役所御用向取扱筈ニ候且又支配有之面々ハ本文之趣心得ニも
可相成者候へハ可被申聞候以上
一同十六日右同人点取ヲ以申聞候ハ向後御留守中飛脚之儀ハ下馬御門御右筆
部屋ゟ差立筈ニ候御門所差支之節も有之候間御用状を始宿状共暮六
時以前可差出旨且又御用状之儀ハ自然遅斉ニ相成候ハヽ其段御右筆部や
迄其斉以前可相届旨組支配之者へも為心得可申聞旨
一同日右同人以手紙申聞候ハ右同趣ニ付諸向御用状を始暮六時以前差出候様相
触候へ共自然右斉ゟ相後レ下馬御門へ指向候者有之候ハヽ承記糺御門所ゟ御右筆
部屋へ申通候上及同断候ハヽ入出差支無之様兼而御門所へ可申通置旨申聞候
ニ付其段御徒目付を以為申通候

右の通り、御附御用人中より相達せられ候旨、荒川十右衛門より申し聞かせ候。
一、弘化元辰年
〇御留守中、御右筆部屋の儀、今度、下馬御門内御用長屋を取り補理（とりつくろい）、向後、彼方にて御用向き取り扱い申し候。もっとも、昼までに差し掛かり、拠んどころなき御用向きは、これまでの通り、月番宅にて取り扱うはずに候。左様に御心得なされるべく候。以上。

追って、明六日より役所にて御用向き取り扱うはずに候。且つまた、支配有之の面々は、本文の趣にも相成るべき者へは申し聞かすべく候。以上。
一、同（月）十六日、右同人の点取をもって申し聞かせ候は、向後、御留守中、飛脚の儀は、下馬御門御右筆部屋より差し立てるはずに候。御門所差し支えの節もこれあり候間、御用状をはじめ、宿状ともに暮れ六つ時以前に差し出すべき旨。且つまた、御用状の儀は、自然遅斉（おくれ）に相成り候わば、その段、御右筆部屋まで、その斉（とき）以前に相届くべき旨、支配の者へも心得のため申し聞かすべき旨。
一、同日、右同人より手紙をもって申し聞かせ候は、右同趣につき、諸向、御用状をはじめ、暮れ六つ時以前に差し出し候よう相触れ候えども、自然右の刻より遅れて下馬御門へ差し向かう者これあり候わば、承記（うけたまわり）、御門所より御右筆部屋へ申し通じ候上、同断に及び候わば、入出差し支えなきよう、かねて御門所へ申し通じ置くべき旨、申し聞かせ候につき、その段、御徒目付をもって申し通じ候。

The foregoing has been communicated by Arakawa Jūuemon, stating that the above had been relayed by the Honorable Attendant Officials (o-tsuki go-yōnin).

〇 Regarding the Office of the Secretaries (go-yuhitsu beya) during the lord's absence: the official service quarters (go-yō nagaya) within the Geba Gate have now been repaired and put in order, and henceforth all official business is to be handled there. However, for any urgent business arising before noon that cannot be deferred, matters shall continue to be handled at the monthly duty officer's (tsukiban) residence, as has been the practice. Please be informed accordingly.

Addendum: From the 6th day of the following day onward, official business shall be handled at the office. Furthermore, those supervisors (shihai) with persons under their charge should inform those among them to whom the contents of the above apply.
Item: On the 16th day of the same month, the same person communicated via written note (tentori) the following: Henceforth, during the lord's absence, dispatching of couriers (hikyaku) shall be handled from the Secretaries' Office at the Geba Gate. As there may be occasions when passage through the gate causes inconvenience, official correspondence (go-yōjō) as well as lodging letters (yadojō) must be submitted before the evening sixth hour (approximately 6:00 p.m.). Furthermore, should official correspondence naturally be delayed, notice of this must reach the Secretaries' Office before that same hour. Supervisors are also to be informed accordingly.
Item: On the same day, the same person communicated via personal letter that, in accordance with the above, notices had been issued to all relevant parties to submit official correspondence and other documents before the evening sixth hour. However, should there be anyone who arrives at the Geba Gate after that hour, word should be received and conveyed from the gatehouse to the Secretaries' Office; and if the matter is handled in the same manner, arrangements should be made in advance with the gatehouse to ensure that entry and exit would not be impeded. Having so communicated this, the matter was therefore conveyed through the Foot Inspector (o-kachi metsuke).
