時、義父を殺したのは他人の仕業であったのかと、一声苦しみを叫び、勘平を抱きしめて言った。「あなたを見なさい、私は合掌してあなたを拝みます。やはり年老いて浅はかに、多くの恨み言を申しました。これは私の料簡違いです。どうかお許し下さい。決して死んでしまってはなりません」と言って大いに泣いた。
勘平は頭を上げて目をしばたたかせながら言った。「今や義母の疑いの心も、私の潔白でない名も、すべて晴れました。この話を冥土への土産として、義父の黄泉の道に追いついて付き添いましょう」と、すぐに刀を抜いて腹を切り開こうとした。
