現代語訳
【上欄】人の死を見ては当然哀傷すべきなのに、なぜ滑稽をもって慰めるのか、甚だ死を
言った。「国の習俗では柳条を紫磨のように呼び、文字はそれぞれ異なっているが、訓音は同じである。この意味を借りて紫磨黄金と呼び、金色の仏身を成し得よう」
勘平が言った。「成仏とは穢れ汚く、私は死なない。肉が爛れ骨が朽ちても、依然として神は猶存し、魂魄はこの世に留まって、必ず一緒に行って仇を報じよう」と言い終わると、息絶え絶えとなり、四苦八苦した。
母親が言った。「早くこの一場の事を娘に知らせて、彼女に会わせなさい」
勘平が言った。「ああ、彼女に知らせてはいけない。ただ彼女の亡君諸件の使用のために、売られた老婆が、もしこの事を知って、不法を行うようなことがあれば、私と主君に対して不忠不義をするのと同様である。ただそのままにしておいてほしい。私は他に心残りはない」と、すぐに刀先で喉を掻き切り、地に倒れて命を落とした。
一篇の散詞があって証とする：
紫はよく朱を奪い、莠はよく苗を乱す。李下で冠を正せば、攀折の謗りを免れず、瓜田で履を容れれば必ず盗愉の罪を受ける。神明が監察するも眼前の疑惑の心を覚ることは難しく、国法昭彰なれども一朝の是非の獄を断ずることはできない。権に城中より虎が出ると説けば、市の客は実としてこれを察せず。況んや曽子が人を殺すと道えば、慈母信じて猜うことなし。恥を識り廉を守れば竟に羅網の災いを脱し、孝を行い善を修めれば永く雲霧の開けるに遭う。
母親が叫んで言った。「哀れな女婿が死んでしまった。世間にも私のようにこれほど苦しみを受ける人はいない。姑爺は死んでしまい、ただ頼みにしていた女婿も、私を捨てて死んでいってしまった。愛する娘もいるが、嫁に出て一般的に彼女に会うこともできない。ただ一人の老婆が残されて、どうやって暮らしていこうか。姑爺よ、私もまた死んで一緒にあなたと行きたい」と、すぐに抱き

[Upper margin] When seeing a person's death, one should naturally feel grief and sorrow. Why comfort with humor? This greatly [treats] death...
He said: "In our country's customs, willow is called like purple磨 (shima). The characters differ from each other, but their pronunciation is the same. Borrowing this meaning, we call it purple磨 gold, and can achieve a golden Buddha body."
Kanpei said: "Becoming Buddha is defiled and filthy. I will not die. Even if my flesh rots and bones decay, my spirit still remains, and my soul stays in this world. I must go together to take revenge." Having said this, he became breathless and suffered the four sufferings and eight pains.
The mother said: "Quickly inform my daughter of this whole affair and let her see him."
Kanpei said: "Ah, do not let her know. She was only sold as an old woman for the use of her late lord's various affairs. If she learns of this matter and commits unlawful acts, it would be the same as my being disloyal and unrighteous to my master. Just leave things as they are. I have no other regrets." He immediately slit his throat with the sword tip, fell to the ground and died.
There is a prose poem as testimony:
Purple can usurp vermillion, weeds can disorder seedlings. If you adjust your cap under a plum tree, you cannot avoid accusations of picking fruit. If you put on shoes in a melon field, you will surely receive the crime of theft. Though divine powers watch over us, it is difficult to perceive the suspicious hearts before our eyes. Though national laws are clear and manifest, they cannot determine right from wrong in a single court case. If you claim a tiger emerged from the city, the market customers believe it without investigation. Moreover, if you say Zengzi killed someone, his loving mother would believe it without suspicion. If you know shame and maintain integrity, you will ultimately escape the disaster of nets and snares. If you practice filial piety and cultivate virtue, you will forever encounter the clearing of clouds and mist.
The mother cried out: "My pitiful son-in-law has died! There is no one in the world who suffers as much as I do. My son-in-law is dead, and the son-in-law I relied on has also abandoned me and died. Though I have a beloved daughter, she married out and generally I cannot see her. Only one old woman remains - how shall I live? Oh son-in-law, I too want to die and go with you!"
