【右丁】
やぶしめじ
菌史に載せられた図。同書によると、しめじに似ているが痩せた質で、白い襞と赤褐色の傘面を持ち、中が空洞で、しおれやすく、夏秋の間に多く竹林中に生えるという。
【左丁】
しもしめじ
信陽菌譜に載せられた図。霜が降りた後、山陰に生える。味はしめじたけに劣るという。

Yabu shimeji (Forest shimeji)
An illustration from the Kinshi (Mushroom History). According to the same book, it resembles shimeji but has a thinner quality, with white gills and a reddish-brown cap surface, hollow center, wilts easily, and grows abundantly in bamboo groves during summer and autumn.

An illustration from the Shin'yō Kinpu (Shin'yō Mushroom Catalog). It grows in shaded mountain areas after frost falls. The taste is said to be inferior to shimeji mushrooms.
