【本文】
一、重要な儀式の場合は二丸へ出向き、軽微な儀式の場合は年寄共のもとへ回るべし。その節、年寄共の指図があるべき条、その旨を守り申すべし

一、大番所当番の者は元日・節句・月次ともに出仕する必要なし。人が入り込む節である間、特に大切に番を仕るべし。二丸番所の者は年寄共が出入りの節、番所前へ出向いて謁見申すべし。もっとも夕飯の代わりに出向く者は両所とも二丸屋形へ出向くべし。江戸より吉凶の事が告げ来たりて相回る儀、これまた代わり合いの節に相回り申すべし

一、右退出の跡、二丸の火の元に念を入れ、目付・徒目付・下目付立ち合い改めさせ申すべし。多葉粉・湯茶の類一切無用のこと。礼がまだ相済まない内、下々が猥らなることのないよう、供の者が集まり居る所へ徒目付・下目付が出向いて制し申すべきこと

一、江戸より来居する用役、次に楠本八十次・長塩又市両人は奥向きにつき用繁しきことである間、欠席しても苦しからざること

一、冠木門は昼夜とも錠を下ろし、鍵は大番所に指し置くべし。普請等につき大勢人が入り込み、不明にして叶わぬ時は大番所の者一人立ち合い明けるべし。左様でなくして猥りに明けてはならぬ。潜り門も昼の内のみ明け、暮六時より仕舞い、鍵は大番所に指し置くべし。本丸門の大門も右同意に相心得申すべし。潜りは昼夜とも貫木を指さずして外より錠掛け、鍵は大番所に指し置き、用事の節は明けるべし。昼夜とも右の通り相心得るべし

**Main Text:**
1. For important ceremonies, proceed to the second compound; for minor ceremonies, visit the senior councilors. On such occasions, the senior councilors shall provide instructions, so these directives must be observed.

1. Guards on duty at the main guardhouse need not attend on New Year's Day, seasonal festivals, or monthly observances. Since people gather during these times, guard duty must be performed with particular care. Those at the second compound guardhouse must come forward to the front of the guardhouse for audience when senior councilors enter and exit. Those who come in place of the evening meal must proceed to the second compound residence at both locations. When announcements of auspicious or inauspicious events arrive from Edo requiring visits, these should also be made during shift changes.

1. After the above departures, careful attention must be paid to fire prevention in the second compound, and inspectors, foot inspectors, and assistant inspectors must jointly conduct inspections. Tobacco, tea, and similar items are entirely forbidden. Before ceremonies are completed, to prevent improper behavior among subordinates, foot inspectors and assistant inspectors must go to where attendants gather and maintain order.

1. Duty officials who have come from Edo, as well as Kusumoto Yasoji and Nagashio Mataichi, have busy responsibilities related to the inner quarters, so their absence is acceptable.

**Memorandum on Duties at Various Gate Guard Posts During the Lord's Absence**

1. Main compound fire guard post: Six mounted guards (key guard duties shall also be performed from among these)

1. Of the six men, three at a time shall take meals so as to maintain constant vigilance day and night. Of the four foot soldiers, two at a time shall take meals maintaining constant vigilance. From the rear window, occasional attention should be paid to the salt-boiling storehouse.

1. When wind, rain, or other concerning matters arise, one mounted guard and one foot soldier shall be taken along, with an attendant carrying a lantern, and patrols shall be made from the new entrance around the back of the second compound residence to the vicinity of the Kinkan circular wooden gate.

1. The crown gate shall be locked day and night, with keys kept at the main guardhouse. When construction or other work requires many people to enter and it cannot remain locked, one person from the main guardhouse must be present to open it. It must not be opened carelessly otherwise. The side gate may only be opened during daylight hours, closing at 6 PM, with keys kept at the main guardhouse. The same understanding applies to the main gate of the main compound. The side entrance shall not have cross-bars inserted day or night but shall be locked from the outside, with keys kept at the main guardhouse, to be opened when needed. This procedure shall be observed day and night.

**Regulations**

1. No suspicious persons shall be allowed passage

1. No gatherings of people other than those on duty

1. Loud conversation, and especially music, go, and shogi are prohibited
Note: Heavy drinking is forbidden

1. Even during cold weather, screens shall be erected, and even during hot weather, one must not go out onto the lower quarters or thin mats to cool oneself
Note: When senior retainers or senior advisors pass through, one must go out to the lower quarters to meet them

1. If any unusual incidents occur, they must be reported immediately to the monthly duty officer or inspector
