一先年被仰出候通文武之芸術弥無懈怠可致修行事
一今度諸稽古道場被仰付候間朝六ツ時ヨリ暮六ツ時迄面々相集望次第稽古可仕事
一文武ノ稽古ノ外一切寄合申間敷事
一火元入念仕廻候節面々火元心附可申事
一喧嘩口論相慎ミ相互批判等並ニ礼儀正敷聊モ無礼無之様相慎事
一諸稽古打込無隔意師匠々々罷出可致指南事
一世上雑談無用ノ事
一酒可為無用事附詩会有之時用候共不可過三爵事
一師匠共依估贔負芸ノ善悪沙汰不可有事
一相集不宜遊堅仕間敷事
一建具等並ニ竹木等ニ至ル迄紛失無様可心付事

時習館之儀今度猶又厚思召ヲ以テ追々結構被為仰出候依之館中へ出席之面々少長トナク何レモ一同
出精可致候抑聖賢之学校被興候事治国之基人才ヲ育フ地ニテ文武ノ道皆是ヨリ出候事ニテ士太夫タ
ル者ノ子ハ別シテ末々御政事ニ与リ申事ニ候得ハ猶更幼年ヨリ館中ヘ罷出学問ノ儀ハ別テ専出精可
致事ハ其道忠孝ヲ本トシ君臣父子兄弟長幼等ノ儀ヲ明ラカニシ国民ヲ集メ命令ヲ施シ入ルヲ計リ出
スヲ為シ国ノ水乾ノ手当人ヲ愛シ民ヲ恵ムノ法悉ク此館ニテ講習致iシ其外燕享養老郷射等都テ礼法
ニ拘リ申候儀相学申候内ヨリ自然ニ発明致シ悪ヲ去リ善ニ相染父母モ安堵シ君ニモ御成不浅儀ニテ
忠孝ノ二ツ声ノ響キニ応シ水ノ形ヲ鑑ミル如ク其微明白ニ候当時幼輩ノ者ハ先館中ニテ素読専ラニ
致シ意味ハ成長ニ随ヒ講釈追々聞染候得ハ自然ニ相分リ申物ニ候其余ハ面々志次第博学ニ可至候諸
事追々被為改候思召ニテ今般掛リ之者被仰付素読世話人早朝ヨリ相詰候相互ニ自分修行ハ不及申館
中ヘ出候テ行儀正敷致シ教候者依怙贔屓ナク精々世話可致候講釈出席名前日々書留是又毎月朔日可
差出候格別出精ニテ昇達之者是迄之通毎暮ニ出シ可申候出席ノ者ヘ左ノ箇條之趣掛リノ者月並一同

**西岡善助**
時に彼の西岡善助は抜きん出られて藩の儒官となり、その教授職に任ぜられたのである。善助は名を淵、号を天津と称した人で『論語徴訓約覧』という著書がある。しかしてその時新たに定められたる時習館の規条というものがあるから、これも左に御紹介することとする。
**時習館規条**
時習館の儀、今度なお又厚き思し召しを以て追々結構仰せ出され候。これに依り館中へ出席の面々、少長となく何れも一同出精致すべく候。抑々聖賢の学校を興され候事は治国の基、人才を育う地にて、文武の道皆これより出で候事にて、士大夫たる者の子は別して末々御政事に与り申す事に候得ば、なお更幼年より館中へ罷り出で学問の儀は別して専ら出精致すべき事。その道は忠孝を本とし、君臣父子兄弟長幼等の儀を明らかにし、国民を集め命令を施し、入るを計り出すを為し、国の水乾の手当、人を愛し民を恵むの法、悉くこの館にて講習致し、その外燕享養老郷射等都て礼法に拘り申し候儀、相学び申し候内より自然に発明致し、悪を去り善に相染み、父母も安堵し君にも御成り浅からざる儀にて、忠孝の二つ声の響きに応じ水の形を鑑みるが如く、その微明白に候。当時幼輩の者は先ず館中にて素読専らに致し、意味は成長に随い講釈追々聞き染め候得ば自然に相分かり申すものに候。その余は面々志次第博学に至るべく候。諸事追々改められ候思し召しにて、今般掛りの者仰せ付けられ、素読世話人早朝より相詰め候。相互に自分修行は申すに及ばず、館中へ出で候て行儀正しく致し、教え候者依怙贔屓なく精々世話致すべく候。講釈出席名前日々書き留め、これまた毎月朔日差し出すべく候。格別出精にて昇達の者、これまでの通り毎暮に出し申すべく候。出席の者へ左の箇条の趣、掛りの者月並み一同為に読み聞かせ、幼年の者へは末に出で候趣、これまた月並み為に読み聞かせ申すべく候。

**Nishioka Zensuke**
At this time, Nishioka Zensuke was selected and became the domain's Confucian official, appointed to the teaching position. Zensuke's given name was En and his literary name was Tenshin. He wrote a book called "Rongo Chōkun Yakuran" (Analects Training Overview). Since there are new regulations for Jishūkan that were established at this time, I will introduce them below as well.
**Jishūkan Regulations**
Regarding Jishūkan, by His Lordship's gracious consideration, excellent arrangements have been successively ordered. Therefore, all those attending the academy, young and old alike, shall devote themselves diligently. The establishment of schools for sages is the foundation of governing the country and the place where talent is nurtured. All paths of literature and martial arts emerge from here. Since the children of samurai will particularly be involved in government affairs in the future, they should especially attend the academy from childhood and devote themselves particularly to learning. This path is based on loyalty and filial piety, clarifying the relationships between lord and retainer, father and son, elder and younger brothers, and senior and junior. It encompasses gathering the people, issuing commands, calculating income and expenditure, caring for the nation's water and drought preparedness, methods of loving people and benefiting the populace—all of these are studied in this academy. Additionally, banquets, caring for elders, archery competitions, and all matters related to ceremonial law are learned. Through this study, one naturally develops understanding, abandons evil and embraces good, bringing peace to parents and great benefit to the lord. Loyalty and filial piety respond like echoes to sound and reflect forms like water—their subtleties are clear. Currently, young students should first focus on reading aloud in the academy. As they mature, they will gradually absorb the meaning through lectures and naturally come to understand. Beyond this, each person may pursue broad learning according to their aspirations. Various matters are being gradually reformed by His Lordship's will. Recently, supervisors have been appointed, and reading tutors attend from early morning. Everyone should not only pursue their own training but also maintain proper behavior when attending the academy. Teachers should care for students without favoritism and with utmost dedication. Daily attendance at lectures shall be recorded and submitted on the first of each month. Those who show exceptional diligence and advancement shall be reported at year-end as before. The following articles shall be read monthly to all attendees by the supervisors, and the provisions appearing at the end shall also be read monthly to the young students.
