投じて自殺せし人なり而して佐可喜は萬之助の書置と称する斬奸趣意書を得て之を其門
人亀井孫六(後に山本速夫と改む其伝は別紙にあり必ず参照を望む)に托し武兵衛等に送
りしものなり
追々寒気相募候処弥御多福被成御揃奉珍賀候先日は倉垣太夫ゟ御頼の額面
三條様へ御願被下候処早速御染筆被下三蔵円へ御差出ニ付直様倉垣君へ持参仕候所早々御染
筆被下候段千萬辱厚く御礼申伝呉候呉々被申出候右様御承知被下度候尚又和楽の御額字も御出
来嘉和の字ニ荷合仕候段御同慶の至候浜名橋碑文も得と御熟覧の上御認可仕候旨何卒御出来ニ
相成候様奉待候事ニ御座候御帰路の節御場合宜敷候はゞ先達て御願置被下候文庫竟宴寄書祝の
御昹何卒御願被下度候此段蓬宇にも呉々被申出候何分御骨折被下度候先は右の段申述度如此御

一、先日土州藩岡田伊蔵と申仁為相尋当十六日夜横浜ロシヤ、イキリス、アメリカ、フランス
四館焼失イキリスミニスロル兄商人頭ガアと申もの刺殺かな川へ首をかけ候由物語有之右同
人貴家へも一宿の由外ニ河邉殿始北添氏も有之候由十三人同道ニて上京これも貴家へ一宿を
も相頼可申由申し候へ共外々ニて評判一向無之候いかゞ貴家へも立寄候哉実否為御知可被下
候様奉頼候
一、其前日は小山杉渓も横山へ立寄老拙ニも是非面会致度被申候由ニ候へ共欠違い対面不致候
御上洛御日限も小山は当年内御軍艦と申岡田は来正月下旬と申候乍去弥廿六日御発駕の由ニ
て今日石川君御出張ニも相成候事故相違無之義ニと被存候誠以在中抔格外の役掛ニて高持百
姓は大迷惑の至潰ニ及候人も余程有之歎息の至候右ニ引かへ町々の日雇《割書：上下｜》又は在方ニても無
高預り地のものは多分の利益を得候て一統静かなる事ニ御座候貴地も定て御同様と御察申候

身を投じて自殺した人である。そして佐可喜は万之助の書き置きと称する斬奸趣意書を得て、これをその門人亀井孫六（後に山本速夫と改める。その伝は別紙にあり、必ず参照を望む）に託し、武兵衛等に送ったものである。
だんだん寒気が募る季節、ますますお健やかにお過ごしのこと、お慶び申し上げます。先日は倉垣太夫からお頼みの額面、三條様へお願い下されたところ、早速お染筆下され三蔵円へお差し出しになったので、すぐに倉垣君へ持参いたしましたところ、早々とお染筆下された段、千万恐縮深くお礼申し伝えてくれと、くれぐれも申し出ています。右様お承知下さい。なお和楽の御額字もお出来になり、嘉和の字に合致いたした段、ご同慶の至りです。浜名橋碑文もよくご熟覧の上ご認可いたした旨、何とぞお出来になりますよう待っております。ご帰路の際、ご都合がよろしければ、先達てお願い置き下された文庫竟宴寄書祝のお歌、何とぞお願い下さい。この段、蓬宇にもくれぐれも申し出ています。何分お骨折り下さい。先はこの段申し述べたく、このようにございます。匆々不備

にも一同異常なく過ごし、ご同慶の至りです。さて貴方にも久しくお引きこもりの由、差し迫った御災難とお察し申します。詳細は御細書で。なお彦兵子からの御演説について同道し、安氏へ詳しく頼み込みましたところ、心よくご承知の義は彦君からお聞きのこととお察し申します。格別表立ったことにはならないでしょう。何とぞ年内のうちにお片付け下さいますよう、陰ながら祈っております。この頃のご様子をお聞かせ下さい。

The other day, regarding the plaque requested by Kuraki Dayū, when you petitioned Lord Sanjō, he quickly took up his brush and submitted it to Sanzō-en. I immediately brought it to Kuraki-kun, who repeatedly asked me to convey his deepest gratitude for the prompt calligraphy, saying it was extremely honorable. Please be aware of this. Also, the calligraphy for "Waraku" has been completed and matches the characters "Kawa," which is most congratulatory. We hope that the Hamana Bridge inscription will also be completed after thorough review and approval. On your return journey, if it is convenient, please fulfill the request made earlier for a celebratory poem for the library completion banquet anthology. Hōu has also repeatedly mentioned this matter. Please make every effort. I wanted to mention these matters first. Written hastily and incompletely.

(Note) This letter appears to be from Bunkyū 2 (1862), and "Lord Sanjō" refers to Sanjō Sanetomi, who stayed at Takebei's house in October of that year while traveling eastward as an imperial messenger. Details are in the detailed letter. Regarding Hikobei's speech, I accompanied him and made detailed arrangements with Mr. Yasu, and I believe Hiko-kun has informed you of what was readily accepted. It should not become a particularly public matter. I pray from the shadows that you will resolve this matter within the year. Please let me know about recent developments.
First, the other day a person named Okada Izō from Tosa domain came to inquire, and he told a story that on the night of the 16th, the Russian, British, American, and French legations in Yokohama were destroyed by fire, and a person called the British minister's elder brother, a merchant leader named Gaa, was stabbed to death and his head was displayed in Kanagawa. He said that the same person also stayed one night at your house, and that there were also others including Kawabe-san and Kitazoe-san, and that thirteen people traveled together to Kyoto, and they would also request to stay one night at your house. However, there is no such rumor elsewhere. I wonder if they stopped by your house as well? Please let me know whether this is true or false.
First, the day before, Koyama Suikei also stopped by Yokoyama and said he very much wanted to meet with this old man, but we missed each other and did not meet.
