○東照宮（●●●） 寺院諸堂の上方に在り殿宇壮麗に
して今尚旧形を変ぜず県社に列す案するに東
照公御慈父贈大納言広忠卿若君のなきを歎き
給ひ北の方と共に当山の薬師へ参詣ありて御
継嗣誕生の祈願あらせられければ不思議にも
霊験ありて天文十一壬寅年十一月廿六日御継
嗣家康公誕生あらせらる依て其後慶安元戍【戊の誤り】子
年将軍家光公阿部豊後守をして鳳来寺に東照
宮建立を仰せ出されたる也
○仏法僧鳥（●●●●） 三宝鳥と云ふ鳳来寺山中にて三
月より九月の間に啼く奇鳥にして其形を見る
べからず其声仏法僧と云ふが如し甚だ閑静な
れば遠近より来りて其声を聞くもの多し此鳥
紀州高野山、山州醍醐山、松尾、和州室生山、
野州日光山等にも棲居せりと云ふ
勅使として登山為し玉ひし時
草鹿砥公宣卿
霧や海山のすかたは島に似て
浪かと聞けば松風の音
仏法僧となく鳥太政大臣殿よりまゐりた
るを常の御所のえむにおかれたりしが雨
などの降日はことに鳴くげにぞ名もさや
かにきこゆすがたはひめ鳥のやうにてい
ますこし大なり 弁内侍
とにかくにかしこき君が御代なれは
三のたからの鳥もなくなり

●起原 南設楽郡の部に詳し本郡は三河国
東北端にして北は信濃国下伊那郡、美濃国恵
那郡、東は遠江国豊田、周智二郡に接して国
境をなせり地勢山岳連綿して耕地少し従つて
山水明媚の処多しと雖とも土地辺陬なるを以
て訪ふものなく世間に知られたる名勝の記す
べきもの少なし

○東照宮 寺院諸堂の上方にある。殿舎は壮麗で今なお旧来の形を変えず、県社に列せられている。考えてみるに、東照公（徳川家康）の御父君である贈大納言広忠卿が若君のないことを嘆かれ、北の方と共に当山の薬師へ参詣されて御継嗣誕生の祈願をなされたところ、不思議にも霊験があって天文十一壬寅年（1542年）十一月二十六日に御継嗣家康公が誕生された。そのため、その後慶安元戊子年（1648年）に将軍家光公が阿部豊後守に命じて鳳来寺に東照宮建立を仰せ出されたのである。
○仏法僧鳥 三宝鳥という。鳳来寺山中で三月から九月の間に鳴く奇鳥で、その姿を見ることはできない。その声は「仏法僧」と言うようである。甚だ静寂であるので遠近から来てその声を聞く者が多い。この鳥は紀州高野山、山城国醍醐山、松尾、大和国室生山、下野国日光山などにも棲息するという。

○北設楽郡
●起源 南設楽郡の部に詳しい。本郡は三河国東北端にあって、北は信濃国下伊那郡、美濃国恵那郡、東は遠江国豊田、周智二郡に接して国境をなしている。地勢は山岳が連綿として耕地は少ない。したがって山水明媚な処は多いけれども、土地が辺境であるために訪れる者もなく、世間に知られた名勝で記すべきものは少ない。

○Tōshōgū Shrine Located above the various halls of the temple. The shrine buildings are magnificent and still maintain their original form unchanged, and it is ranked among the prefectural shrines. Upon investigation, when the father of Tōshō-kō (Tokugawa Ieyasu), the posthumously appointed Dainagon Hirotada, lamented having no heir, he and his consort made a pilgrimage to the Yakushi of this mountain and prayed for the birth of an heir. Miraculously, there was divine response, and on the 26th day of the 11th month of Tenbun 11 (1542), the heir Lord Ieyasu was born. Therefore, later in Keian 1 (1648), Shogun Iemitsu ordered Abe Bungo-no-kami to construct the Tōshōgū at Hōraiji.
○Buppōsō Bird Also called Sanpō-chō (Three Treasures Bird). This is a rare bird that cries in Hōraiji mountain from March to September, but its form cannot be seen. Its voice sounds like "Buppōsō" (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha). It is extremely quiet, so many people come from far and near to hear its voice. This bird is said to also inhabit Kōyasan in Kii Province, Daigosan and Matsuo in Yamashiro Province, Murōsan in Yamato Province, and Nikkōsan in Shimotsuke Province, among others.

○Kita-Shitara District
●Origins Detailed in the section on Minami-Shitara District. This district is at the northeastern tip of Mikawa Province, bordered on the north by Shimo-Ina District of Shinano Province and Ena District of Mino Province, and on the east by Toyoda and Shūchi Districts of Tōtōmi Province, forming the provincial boundaries. The topography consists of continuous mountain ranges with little arable land. Therefore, while there are many places of scenic beauty, because the land is remote, few people visit, and there are few famous scenic spots known to the world worth recording.
