若殿の身持ちが放蕩なのは番頭の忠二の仕業で、その隙に乗じて多くの御用人の金を盗みをして、誰も知らないと思ってますます図々しくしていたが、側の者でも知らないけれども、天道様は御存知で、少しのことから悪事が現れて、もう毛氈被りより稼ぎには受け取りにくいけれども、割竹で叩き出されたけれども、置きの徳というものもなく、一家中が口を揃えて「総太郎」というものばかり。
