御夫婦の仲は睦まじく、毎夜毎夜九つ（午前0時頃）過ぎまで、お爪で次々とお笑い種になり、腰元がお酒盛りの相手になり、「宿探しに参ります」と勘違いして参りますという者もおり、「吉原へ参ります」という者もあり、毎夜毎夜その争いで、お局様に叱られて黙るところを楽しみにしていらっしゃった。

英語訳
The noble couple's relationship was harmonious, and every night until past the ninth hour (around midnight), they would engage in amusing activities with their fingernails, with lady attendants serving as companions for their drinking parties. Some servants would mistakenly come saying "I'm going to look for lodging," while others would say "I'm going to Yoshiwara," and every night there would be disputes over such matters. They took pleasure in watching the servants fall silent after being scolded by the head lady-in-waiting.
