現代語訳
新之丞は日に日に深い仲となり、滝川も度々（通うように）なれども、少しずつ金を求め置き、その上奥方のある事も知りながら帰ろうと言えば、癇癪を起こし女郎買いに、こうした（男も）あれど色男は一筋縄ではいかない厄介な者、良い夜なれども帰る事も（ままならず）。

格別贅沢をして何の不足なきに、佞臣の勧めにて若殿の身持ち悪しくなり給う事、密かに姫君に相談し「必ず必ず女の頼みなみは、嫉妬深く執念深い事にしも、普通の色事とは違い、色は短歌のように夫婦喧嘩はなるまいし、道成寺のように角の生えぬように諫言し給え」

英語訳
Shinnosuke grew closer to her day by day, and though he visited Takigawa frequently, she gradually demanded more money from him. Moreover, knowing that he had a wife at home, when he would say he should return, she would fly into a rage. Though there are other men who frequent courtesans, a true libertine is a troublesome creature not easily handled. Even on pleasant evenings, returning home became difficult.
