　　　（刃が）悪い。糸の締め方は
　　　強く締めれば皮が
　　　めくれるものである。そうは言っても
　　　緩いとくっつかない。ただ動か
　　　ない程度を良しとする。
　　　糸は麻糸で油気の
　　　あるものが良い。荒い麻は
　　　害がある。
　　　　　《割書：穂木の間五分程度が長くて良い》
　　　　　　《割書：台木の高さ三寸五分程度に切って良い》

【左丁】
　　　このように竹の皮で包む。
　　　ただし、雨の時期には削り
　　　口へ水が入らないよう注意
　　　である。水がつけば削り口が
　　　傷み、また糸も腐り、
　　　あるいは切り口が日に当たって
　　　傷むからである。
　　　また五月中頃よりも
　　　七月初めまで接ぐこともある。
　　　土用接ぎという。この時には
　　　台木を切るのは良くない。
　　　切り口が暑さに当たって木の
　　　性質が衰え傷むからである。

　　　This is called "doyo-tsugi" (midsummer grafting). At this time,
　　　cutting the rootstock is not good
　　　because the cut surface is affected by heat and the tree's
　　　vitality declines and becomes damaged.
