　　　／花檀（くわだん）のまわりに地

　　　つさ壱寸ほど／平（たいら）に
　　　敷上に砂を又あつさ
　　　五分ばかり敷尤に
　　　／石（いし）をふるひすてたる
　　　よし其上に赤つち

【右丁】
　　　か針金を使って吊るすのである。
　　　時々水をかけるのが
　　　良い。組んだ箱の下に
　　　水抜きの穴を掘るのである。
　　　さて八月頃に竹の
　　　皮を開けて、穂木の
　　　元を切り離し、
　　　糸をほどいて取り、また
　　　竹の皮を被せておく。
　　　その時に植え替えるのも良い。
　　　何度も植え替えるのは悪い。
　　　愛すと言うけれど
　　　も、その実は害す

【左丁】
　　　のである、と橐駝が言う文句。
　　　もっともなことである。

　　○挿し木
　　　花壇の周りに地面
　　　より二寸高く枠を
　　　渡し、中にまず黒土
　　　を細かくふるいにかけ、
　　　厚さ一寸ほど平らに
　　　敷き、上に砂をまた厚さ
　　　五分ばかり敷く。特に
　　　石をふるいで除いた
　　　ものが良い。その上に赤土
