一 今日竹之間御座席奉行安藤對馬殿幷自分之名前御張紙出
候之段昨日詰日之衆ゟ為心得手紙ニ而申来
一 御座席奉行相勤候ニ付御中入前於中之間御料理頂戴致候段

一 始之御鉢出引候を見受直相模自分一同御敷居ゟ三尺内ニ而

三月五日
一 公家衆の御能があるということで、六時過ぎに出宅し、熨斗目長上下を着用して登城した。
一 今日、竹之間御座席奉行として安藤対馬殿並びに自分の名前の御張紙が出されることについて、昨日の詰日の衆から心得のために手紙で申し来た。
一 御座席奉行を務めるにあたり、御中入前に中之間において御料理を頂戴する段について、御目付柴田三左衛門へ伝え置いた。
一 老中衆の登城により、例の通り席へ出向いた。
一 安藤対馬殿が今日病気のため代わりに小笠原相模が務めることになり、その人とよく打ち合わせ置いた。
一 申の刻に大広間へ回り四之間へ着座した。
御目見が済んで例の通り御板縁へ越して着座した。
一 戸田越前、牧野周防が御白書院御座席奉行のため、同人と申し合わせ三番叟が済んでから中之間へ越して御料理を頂戴した。
一 御中入中、要脚広蓋が済んだ頃を見計らって大広間辺りへ越し、老中衆が引かれるのを見受け置き、雁之間へ越して図の如く着座し、それから相模へ越したところ、ただ今紀伊中納言殿、水戸宰相殿を御案内したと申し聞かれた。
一 同人の御案内で竹之間へ御返しになり、その節図の如く御出迎えをした。程なく若年寄森川紀伊守殿が図の如く出座された。
一 御饗応が始まり御膳が出揃うと、御目付から御道朋へ申し伝え、御道朋から紀伊守殿へ会釈があって奥へ越され、程なく下野守殿、出羽守殿が竹之間へ出られて御挨拶があり、直ちに引かれた。
ただしその節は御案内無し。
一 始めの御鉢が出されて引かれるのを見受け、直ちに相模と自分が一同に御敷居から三尺内において指込み、図の如く着座し、ゆっくりと召し上がるよう筆頭につき自分から申し上げた。また元の席へ帰座した。
一 御銚子が出されて引かれると、両人ずつ初めの通り出向き、御酒を召し上がるよう自分から申し上げた。
一 大久保加賀守殿が芙蓉之間へ越され、その節相模が御会釈申して直ちに

1. Since there was to be a Noh performance for the court nobles, I left home after six o'clock, dressed in noshi-me nagakamishimo formal attire, and went to the castle.
1. Regarding today's posting of notices bearing the names of Ando Tsushima-dono and myself as Takenoma seating magistrates, yesterday's duty personnel sent a letter for my information.
1. Concerning my duties as seating magistrate, I informed metsuke Shibata Sanzaemon that I would partake of the meal in the Nakanoma before the intermission.
1. When the senior councilors arrived at the castle, I went to my seat as usual.
1. Since Ando Tsushima-dono was ill today, Ogasawara Sagami served in his place, so I coordinated well with that person.
1. At the hour of the Monkey, I went around to Ohiroma and took my seat in Yonnoma.
After the audience was completed, I crossed over to the board veranda as usual and took my seat.
1. Since Toda Echizen and Makino Suo were serving as seating magistrates for the White Study Room, I coordinated with them, and after Sambaso was completed, I crossed over to Nakanoma and partook of the meal.
1. During the intermission, when the foot-washing and broad covering were completed, I went over to the vicinity of Ohiroma, observed the senior councilors withdrawing, then went to Karinoma and sat as shown in the diagram. From there I went to Sagami, who informed me that he had just escorted Kii Chunagon-dono and Mito Saishō-dono.
1. Under his guidance, they returned to Takenoma, at which time I performed the reception as shown in the diagram. Soon after, wakadoshiyori Morikawa Kii-no-kami-dono took his seat as shown in the diagram.
1. The banquet began and when the meals were all served, the metsuke conveyed this to the dōbō, who paid his respects to Kii-no-kami-dono and withdrew to the inner quarters. Soon Shimotsuke-no-kami-dono and Dewa-no-kami-dono appeared in Takenoma, exchanged greetings, and immediately withdrew.
Note: At that time there was no formal escort.
1. I observed the first serving bowls being brought out and withdrawn, then immediately Sagami and I together positioned ourselves within three feet of the threshold, sat as shown in the diagram, and as the senior person I suggested they dine leisurely. Then we returned to our original seats.
1. When the sake vessels were brought out and withdrawn, we went out two by two as initially, and I suggested they partake of the sake.
