楽しみなのです。たとえ三千世界に満ち溢れる金銀珠玉が
あったとしても、命に代わる宝はないでしょう。そこで、その
宝を失わないよう用心するのが、人間第一の務めな
のです。さて毎年毎年、夏になると、コレラという悪い病気
が流行して、男でも女でも、老人でも子供でも、鬼
を欺く勇士でも、この病気にかかったら大変です。吐き下
しを始めてから死ぬまでの間は、半日でも一日
でも、七転八倒の大苦しみをした挙句、ついに往生
する恐ろしい病気なので、皆がかからないよう用心

すべきですが、ただ恐ろしい怖いと思うばかりで、
肝心な用心の仕方を知らなければ、決してかから
ないとは請け合いがたいものです。よってその恐ろしいコレラ
も、決してかからない確実な予防法を以下に詳し
く記すので、よく読みよく覚え、妻子眷属はもちろん
親しい知人にも語り伝えて、共に長生を楽しんでいた
だきたい。いい加減にも用心を怠らなければ、どのように激
しいコレラでも、決して恐れるに足りないもので
ある。

close friends and acquaintances, so that together you may enjoy longevity.
If one does not neglect precautions even carelessly, no matter how severe
