西方半規に在る陸地と東方半規に在る陸
地と壌を接せす所謂(ハステラント)は一小洲と
二大洲とを以て或る即大州一は西方半規
内に在り一は小洲と共に東方半規内に在る
なり此三部自余の小洲を合して五世界
に分る五世界は則所謂欧邏巴。亜細亜。

西方半球にある陸地と東方半球にある陸地とは土地が接していない。いわゆる「ハステラント」（大陸）は一つの小大陸と二つの大陸とからなる。すなわち大陸の一つは西方半球内にあり、一つは小大陸と共に東方半球内にある。この三部分は他の小大陸を合わせて五世界に分かれる。五世界とは、すなわちいわゆるヨーロッパ、アジア、アフリカ、アメリカ、オーストラリアである。
ヨーロッパとアジアとは、その実は区別があるわけではない。アジアとアフリカとはただ一条の細い土地によって土地が接している。南アメリカと北アメリカもまた一つの細い土地によって土地が接している。この細い土地を「ランド・エングテ」（地峡）と名付ける。そしてアジアとアフリカとが接する所の細い土地を「スエズ」の「ランドエングテ」と名付け、南アメリカと北アメリカとが接する所のものを「パナマ」また「ダリエン」の「ランドエングテ」と名付ける。

The land in the western hemisphere and the land in the eastern hemisphere do not have connecting soil. The so-called "Vasteland" (continent) consists of one small continent and two large continents. That is, one large continent is within the western hemisphere, and one is within the eastern hemisphere together with the small continent.
