あり東南風の如き和蘭地方に於ては

また遅い。故に日中海上の熱度がまだそれほど甚だしくない時に、陸地はすでに熱の極に到るので、陸上の気が海に向かって傾き散るのである。また海上は昼間漸く熱し、夜に至っても速やかには消えない。この時陸地の熱気はすでに消えている。これをもって陸上の気が海に向かって傾き散るのである。
風の性質はその吹いて来る所の地に随って各々異なる。すなわち北風は北極直下の四季沍寒の地より起こり、雪山及び氷山を越えて来るが故に寒烈である。東風は広大で何もない土地を通って来るが故に乾燥している。西風は大洋を渡って来るが故に湿潤である。
