アフリカの西海岸で北緯20度から34度に至る地域、ならびにフロリダの近所は、その色が草原のようである。フルアクリュクサの辺り一帯の海色はすべて白い。リオ・デ・ラプラタ（河名）の河口は海色が紅色である。
他の大洋ならびに大西洋の北緯63度の所では全く潮の満ち引きがない。
地中海は四方から水が注ぎ集まるけれども、かつて海面の高さを増すことはない。ジブラルタル海峡においてこれを測ると、ここに注ぎ来る水は一年の間に積もれば、全地中海の高さを22尺増すはずだと言う。
おそらくこの海は海底に別に水を流し出す道があり、1、2尺の深さまでは水が注入するけれども、それより深い底では水が常々注ぎ出しているのである。

The western coast of Africa from 20 to 34 degrees north latitude, as well as the vicinity of Florida, has a color like grassland. The waters around Flua Acryxa are entirely white in color. The mouth of the Rio de la Plata (river name) has a reddish sea color.
In other great oceans as well as the Atlantic Ocean at 63 degrees north latitude, there are absolutely no tidal movements.
Although water flows and gathers into the Mediterranean Sea from all directions, it never increases the sea level. When measured at the Strait of Gibraltar, it is said that if the water flowing in accumulated for one year, it would increase the height of the entire Mediterranean Sea by 22 feet.
Presumably, this sea has separate channels at the bottom to drain water away; while water flows in to depths of one or two feet, from deeper bottoms water constantly flows out.
