鴨脚子（かうきやくし）
銀杏其葉の刻鈌深き者は雄也不結實を
三稜なる實爲雄と二稜なる實爲雌則實を結ふ
雌は其葉刻鈌 畧（すくなし）しな葉の内無きもあり
著花圖上に爲す如し花にめ花に非らす山
椒粒の無 花片（はなひら）二顆一双朝に見れは樹下を
日々有り落花莖其實民用に利あり

『多識編』山果類に曰く
銀杏（ぎんきょう） 和名 いちょう 俗に ぎんあん と云う 異名 白果 日用
鴨脚子（こうきゃくし）
銀杏はその葉の切れ込みが深いものは雄である。実を結ばない。
三稜のある実が雄で、二稜のある実が雌で、実を結ぶ。
雌はその葉の切れ込みが少なく、葉の内側に切れ込みのないものもある。
著花図は上に描いた通りである。花というより花ではない。山椒のような
粒で、花弁がない。二個が一双となって、朝に見れば樹下に
日々落花がある。その茎、その実は民用に利がある。

The "Tashiki-hen," Mountain Fruits section, states:
Ginkgo (ginkyō) Japanese name: ichō, commonly called: ginan Alternative name: hakka (white fruit), daily use
Kōkyakushi (duck foot seed)
Ginkgo trees with deeply incised leaves are male. They do not bear fruit.
Three-ridged fruits are from males, two-ridged fruits are from females, which do bear fruit.
Females have fewer leaf incisions, and some have no incisions on the inner part of the leaves.
The flower diagram is as depicted above. They are not really flowers but rather like Japanese pepper
grains without petals. Two form a pair, and when observed in the morning, fallen flowers
can be found daily beneath the tree. The stems and fruits are beneficial for common use.
