鹿菜（しかな）
大和本草雑草類に曰
犬羌活（いぬうど） 筑紫にて鹿菜と云
《割書：ししうど｜》
俗稱る鹿菜と者此ならん 矣（か）似 羌活（うと）
味美しと未予不知不味
拾遺集の哥に鹿菜を詠せり此者ならんと 矣

鹿菜（しかな）
『大和本草』雑草類に曰く
犬羌活（いぬうど） 筑紫にて鹿菜と云う
俗に鹿菜と称するものはこれであろう。羌活（うど）に似て
味が美しいというが、まだ私は味を知らない
『拾遺集』の歌に鹿菜を詠んだものがあり、これのことであろう

"Yamato Honzō" [Japanese Pharmacopeia] in the section on miscellaneous plants states:
Inu-kyōkatsu (Dog notopterygium) In Tsukushi it is called shikana
What is commonly called shikana is probably this. It resembles kyōkatsu (udo)
and is said to have a delicious taste, but I have not yet experienced its flavor
In the poems of "Shūi-shū" [Collection of Gleanings], shikana is mentioned, probably referring to this plant
