【上巻三十一丁裏】
〔蔵の屋根の上に俵を入れた図の上に〕
この俵の数、二百十二俵あり。
【解法】下の三十俵に一俵を加えて、そこから高さ（上の段）の八俵を引けば、残り二十三俵となる。これに下の三十俵を加えて五十三俵となる。これに高さの八俵をかければ四百二十四俵となる。これを二つに割れば、二百十二俵と知れる也。

【上巻三十二丁表】
【条目】米売買
▲米が八百十石ある時に、銀子十匁につき四斗三升二合換えの相場にしては、この米の銀はいくらかと問う。
銀十八貫七百五十匁という。
【解法】米八百十石を右に置いて、また左に相場の四斗三升二合と置く。これにて右の米を割れば、銀十八貫七百五十匁と知れる也。
〔注〕米を米相場で割れば銀（代金）になる。銀にかければ米と知るべし。

**The total number of bales is 212.**
**Method:** Add 1 bale to the bottom row of 30 bales, then subtract the height (top row) of 8 bales, leaving 23 bales. Add the bottom row of 30 bales to this, making 53 bales. Multiply this by the height of 8 bales, giving 424 bales. Divide this by two, and the result is **212 bales**, as established.

**Section: Buying and Selling Rice (*Kome Urihai*)**
▲ When there are 810 *koku* of rice, and the market price (*sōba*) is 4 *to* 3 *shō* 2 *gō* per 10 *monme* of silver, one asks: how much silver is the said rice worth?
**The answer is 18 *kan* 750 *monme* of silver.**
**Method:** Place the 810 *koku* of rice on the right, and on the left place the market rate of 4 *to* 3 *shō* 2 *gō*. Divide the rice on the right by this rate, and the result is **18 *kan* 750 *monme* of silver**, as established.
〔Note〕Dividing rice by the rice market rate gives the silver (monetary value). Multiplying silver by the rate gives the amount of rice.
