【上巻四十丁表】
〔条目名〕 金（きん）両替（りょうがえ）
▲金二十五匁ある時に、判金の相場が銀五百二十八匁換えとして、右の金に対して銀はいくらかと問う時、
銀三百匁という。
判金一枚の目方（重さ）は四十四匁あり。相場の五百二十八匁を四十四匁で割れば、金一匁につき銀十二匁ずつに当たる也。これを右の金二十五匁にかければ、銀三百匁と知れる也。
右これは、皆初心なる人はこのように（単純に）割るものである。しかしこれは場合によっては合わない、よくない算（計算法）である。

[Section heading:] **Gold Exchange (*Kinryōgae*)**
▲ When one has 25 *monme* of gold (*kin*), and the exchange rate for *hankin* (判金, oval gold coin) is 528 *monme* of silver per piece, one asks: how much silver is this gold worth?
The answer is: **300 *monme*** in silver.
One piece of *hankin* weighs 44 *monme*. Divide the market rate of 528 *monme* by 44 *monme*, and one finds that each *monme* of gold corresponds to 12 *monme* of silver. Multiply this by the 25 *monme* of gold on the right, and 300 *monme* in silver becomes known.
Now, this method — dividing straightforwardly in this manner — is what beginners all tend to do. However, depending on the circumstances, this can be an inaccurate and poor method of calculation.
