《題：第四十四 薬師さんといふ事》
[図]如此四方にならへて一方面八つつつ
ある時かた一方の八つをはそのまま置
三方をはくづして八つつつならへてみれは
なにほとあるそといふ時に

のりあわする時なん里つつのるととふ
○ひとりまへに以上四里半つつのるなり

一人ははしめ一里半あるいて一里半めよりのりとほす也

このように四方に並べて、一辺に八つずつある時、一方の辺の八つはそのままにしておき、残りの三方を崩して八つずつ並べてみると、全部でいくつあるかという問題。
[答：二十八あるということ]
解法：余り一つを四の算用として十六と置く。さらに別の解法として、十二を加えると二十八となるとわかる。また余りなしという時には十二あるといい、また百二十あるともいう。
【第四十五問】
六里ある道を四人で馬三匹に乗り合わせる時、一人あたり何里ずつ乗るかを問う。
○一人あたり合計四里半ずつ乗ることになる。
○一里半ずつ乗っては交代し、順繰りに乗る。
一人目は馬に一里半乗りて降りる。
一人目は馬に三里乗りて降りる。
一人目は馬に四里半乗りて降りる。
一人目は初め一里半歩いて、一里半の地点から乗り通す。
一里半乗って降りた人は、また三里の地点から乗り通す。
三里乗った人は、四里半の地点から乗り通す。

**Problem 44: The Yakushi Calculation**

When stones are arranged in a square formation with eight stones on each side, leaving one side's eight stones in place and rearranging the remaining three sides into groups of eight, how many stones are there in total?
[Answer: There are twenty-eight.]
Method: Take a remainder of one, use it as a multiplier of four to get sixteen. Additionally, adding twelve gives twenty-eight. When there is no remainder, the answer is twelve. It can also be stated as one hundred and twenty.

**Problem 45**
Four people are traveling a road of six ri, sharing three horses. How many ri does each person ride?
○ Each person rides a total of four and a half ri.
○ Each person rides one and a half ri at a time before switching, taking turns in rotation.
- The first person rides one and a half ri, then dismounts.
- The second person rides three ri, then dismounts.
- The third person rides four and a half ri, then dismounts.
- The fourth person walks the first one and a half ri, then rides all the way from the one-and-a-half ri mark.
- The person who rode the first one and a half ri rides again from the three-ri mark to the end.
