この『新編塵劫記』を、《吉田光由》が板を開き、版木に刻んで、その伝わりを末長く保つべく、今より以後、世に広まって算法の指南となるよう（努めたこと）は、まるで符節を合わせるようなものである。後世の人よ、励め、おろそかにすることなかれ。
時に寛永第四暦、龍集彊梧単閼、仲秋の好き日辰、西嶺舜岳、野釋《玄光》、もって跋す。

【下巻廿六丁表】
算数がこの世において、真に欠かすことができず、捨てがたいものは、この道（算術）である。しかしながら、代々この道は衰えて、世に名の知られた者は少なかった。しかるに、私はたまたまある師について、汝思（程大位）の書を受けて、これを服飾（身につけるもの）とし、領袖（手引き）として、その一端を得た。その師から聞いたことをまとめ書きして十八巻とし、その一・二・三を上・中・下として、我ながら見識の浅い者が初学者への手引きとして伝えてきた。しかるところ、また諸書を刻んで世を渡る者がこれを写し求めて、利益のために世に売り広めているというが、その詳細を知らない者は、

This *Shinpen Jinkōki*, opened to print and carved into woodblocks by Yoshida Mitsuyoshi, so that its transmission might endure for ages and henceforth spread throughout the world as a guide to the art of calculation — this is as fitting as the matching of a tally. You who come after, strive earnestly, and do not treat this lightly.
Written in the fourth year of the Kan'ei era, the year of Kyōgo-tan'atsu [1627], on a fine day in mid-autumn, by Seizan Shungaku Yashaku *Genkō*, as a postface.

That which in this age of arithmetic is truly indispensable and impossible to set aside — this is the Way (of mathematics). Yet through successive generations this Way has declined, and those renowned in the world for it have been few. Nevertheless, I happened to study under a certain master and received the writings of Rúsī (Cheng Dawei), taking these as my garb and guide, and thereby gained some understanding of their content. I compiled what I had learned from that master into eighteen volumes, dividing the first, second, and third into upper, middle, and lower volumes, and have transmitted them as an introduction for those who, like myself, are unlearned beginners. However, there are those who make their living by carving and reprinting various books, and who copy and seek out this work in order to sell it in the world for profit; those who do not know its details—
