現代語訳
長介は遊びにこりごりして、このように遊ぶことは呑気なものかと不審に思い、遊び友達を避けようと工夫を凝らした。
稼いでいると金銀が山のごとく増え、まことに農楽遊びの夢は覚めて家は富み栄える。
「遊びには飽きるものだが、いくらあっても『もう十分』ということがないのが金である。この一服の煙草が千金」と口では申すが、
買いはいたしません。

Chōsuke had grown thoroughly disgusted with pleasure-seeking, wondering suspiciously whether such frivolous pursuits were truly carefree, and he devised ways to avoid his gambling companions.
