一　当村石切之儀村中取調書上仕候処此外壱人茂
　　無御座候猶亦石切稼ニ罷出旅先ニ而石切
　　弟子等召抱不申候旅先実躰ニ相廻り可申候
　　様具ニ申聞候処一々承知仕候若此上ニ茂
　　不吟味成儀有之候而後日御聞被成候ハヽ其
　　御元ゟ早速御注進可被成候其上何様之御咎

現代語訳

差上申一札之事

一、当村の石切の件について、村中で取り調べて報告いたしましたところ、この他に一人もおりません。なお、石切稼業に出かけた旅先において、石切の弟子等を雇い入れることはいたしません。旅先では実直に働き回ることができるよう、詳しく申し聞かせましたところ、一つ一つ承知いたしました。もしもこの上にも不注意な事があって、後日お聞きになられましたら、そちら様から早速ご報告くださいますよう、その上でどのようなお咎めを仰せ付けられましても、少しも恨み申すことはございません。後日のため連印一札、よって件の如し。

A Pledge Document Submitted

Item: Regarding the stone cutters in our village, we have investigated throughout the village and reported, and there are no others besides these. Furthermore, when going out to work as stone cutters in distant places, they will not hire stone cutting apprentices. We have instructed them in detail to work diligently and honestly at their destinations, and they have acknowledged each point. Should there be any negligent matters beyond this that come to your attention later, please report immediately from your end. Even if any punishment is imposed upon us, we will harbor no resentment whatsoever. This joint seal document is for future reference, therefore as stated above.
