現代語訳
「木曽殿の身内に今井がいるとは知らなかったのか、物々しいことよ。粟津の原を屍の山にするぞ。ありゃありゃありゃ。」
今井四郎兼平は義仲が討たれ給いしと聞き、
「今はこれまでなり。いざ、最後の手並みを見せて鎌倉勢の目を驚かそう」と、雲手にかかり、十文字に打ち被り、駆け通り、敵多数を討ち取り、目覚ましい討ち死にをする。
石田三郎は木曽殿を討ち取ろうとしたが、（今井の）手並みに恐れて逃げ行く。
「強い奴だ。それに追いでなされ。」
英語訳
"Did you not know that Imai is among Lord Kiso's retainers? What a formidable thing! I shall make the plains of Awazu into a mountain of corpses. Ariya, ariya, ariya!"
Imai Shirō Kanehira, hearing that Yoshinaka had been struck down, said:
"Now this is the end. Come, I shall show my final prowess and astound the eyes of the Kamakura forces." He charged into the cloud formation, crossed his weapons in a cruciform pattern, rode through them, struck down many enemies, and met a spectacular death in battle.
Ishida Saburō tried to strike down Lord Kiso, but fled in fear of (Imai's) martial prowess.
"He's a strong one! Pursue him!"
