そもそも海辺に居住している人々は、常に年長者を敬い、その話に耳を傾け、昔から危険な出来事があったことなどを語り伝えとして受け継いでおくべきである。そして、普段から注意を払い、雲の様子や潮の満ち干きに異変があれば、互いに知らせ合い、その動静を常に観察するようにすべきである。このようにしていれば、自然と心の備えも次第にできてきて、いざ危急の際にもうろたえることなく、命を失うには至らないであろう。常に、ただ風や雲、海の潮の動きに気を配って見ておくことが大切である。
