を降（ふら）す浅間嶽（あさまかたけ）ぬけ出草津山等一時に燃（もえ）出し烈火

（前頁より続く）…火災が多く、京都および五畿内では寒気が強く、毎日時雨が降り続いた。
同年（天明三年・1783年）七月三日・四日頃より、信州およびその近国で昼夜を問わず大地震が続き、雷鳴のような轟音とともに砂や石が降り出した。五日・六日とますます激しく鳴り出し、夜になるにつれて特にひどくなった。同じく七日、白昼にもかかわらず闇夜のように暗くなり、岩石が飛び散り、その近辺の各所に熱い灰が降り注いだ。浅間嶽が噴火し、草津山などが一斉に燃え出し、烈しい火が四方に散乱した。山麓の山野はたちまち大河となり、熱湯が湧き出て滝のようになった。利根川の筋へと押し出し、近隣の村々を流し去った。
寛政四年（1792年）、肥前国島原領において山が燃え出し、湯が湧き流れ、多くの人が死んだ。国中が震動し、火の光が近国を照らした。
同六年（1794年）十一月三日、子の刻に江戸で大地震が起きた。

Around the third and fourth days of the seventh month of the same year [Tenmei 3, 1783 CE], great earthquakes continued day and night in Shinano Province and the surrounding provinces, accompanied by thunderous roaring sounds as sand and stones began to fall. On the fifth and sixth days, the rumbling grew increasingly violent, becoming especially severe by nightfall. On the seventh day of the same month, even in broad daylight it became as dark as night; rocks were hurled through the air, and hot ash rained down upon many places in the vicinity. Mount Asama erupted, and Mount Kusatsu and other mountains burst into flame simultaneously, with fierce fire scattering in all directions. The mountain fields and plains at the foot of the mountains instantly became great rivers, with boiling water gushing forth like waterfalls. This torrent poured into the course of the Tone River, washing away the villages nearby.
In the fourth year of Kansei [1792 CE], in the Shimabara domain of Hizen Province, a mountain erupted and hot water gushed forth and flowed, killing many people. The entire province shook, and the light of the fires illuminated the surrounding provinces.
On the third day of the eleventh month of the sixth year [of Kansei, 1794 CE], at the hour of the Rat, a great earthquake struck Edo.
