Supplementary Remarks
○Extraordinary calamities such as earthquakes, thunder, and fires are not things that can be known about in advance. These are what is called the "arrival of one's appointed time," and since they all occur unexpectedly, people panic and injure themselves, and some even lose their lives. This is something witnessed and heard of firsthand. Among these calamities, since there are no means by which to avoid an earthquake, people are especially prone to panic and confusion. At such times, one should cultivate a habit of preparedness in advance, so as not to be startled; and even when an earthquake is severe, pay very careful attention to fire hazards so as to prevent accidents, and evacuate promptly.
