【Folio 11】 【Right page】 Seietsu had still been living in this world at Hiraizumi until the summer of Kan'ei 7 (1630). Also, among the attendants of the young lord Kuemon-no-tayū, there was a man named Ono Tazaemon. This Ono, from around Genna 2 (1616) to Genna 7 (1621), relied upon Seietsubō as his teacher of military arts, attending upon him day and night, and this narrative is what he diligently wrote down from what he heard morning and evening about the matters of Takadachi and mochi-ii. Among these accounts, it is written: On a certain occasion, the provincial lord, Middle Counselor Masamune, summoned Seietsubō and said, "Now then, Reverend, you are a person who has lived long in this world. I have also heard that you possess a letter written by Lord Yoshitsune — might I be permitted to see it?" Seietsu reverently complied, and 【Left page】 presently took out a vermilion-lacquered box, pushed open the lid, and produced the document. Holding it up reverently to show to his lordship, Middle Counselor Masamune descended from his seat, prostrated himself, and viewed it. He then gave word for those present also to have the honor of viewing it. Slowly and deliberately, Seietsu rolled the document up and returned to his seat. When an offer was made to grant Seietsu a domain, Seietsu replied: "Your lordship's words fill me with the utmost reverence and awe. However, I have already lived many long years in this world, and now that the final moment of my life draws near, what service could I render with a domain? That I have been able to live peacefully at Hiraizumi until now — this alone I regard as your lordship's gracious benevolence, and as my domain. I have not the slightest
