の画を見るかことに見えしかは其世の春に名たゝる山也といへり駒形の御嶽（ミタケ）は駒形の神山
にして春の末夏の初めに雪またらに消行こ
ろ其雪にて馬家（コマカタ）のあらはるゝをとてしか山の
名におへりまた此出羽の今の山本￣ノ郡 上津野荘（カミツノノサウ）
にも駒箇岳（コマカタケ）ありこれも雪の駒形也そをもて糟（カス）
毛《割書：本霞｜毛也》ヶ（か）嶽とも云ひ麓の郷名（ムラナ）にも云へる也此村
より白糟毛（シラカスケ）なる駿馬（ウマ）産（イテ）たるより此邑名ありと

嶽とこそうへならめまた信濃￣ノ国の駒ヶ嶽には
神馬（シメ）今もあるよしを新著聞集につばらかに見
えたれとそも雪の駒形あらはるゝ事其国伊奈
郡の人話れりみちのくの駒￣ノ御嶽の山脚（フモト）あたり
は出羽陸奥みな駒形￣ノ荘（サウ）とむかしはもはらいひ
つるよし麓の人は年毎に此 御駒山（オコマヤマ）にまゐるみ
たけさうしそしけるまた関白秀次卿の御䑓所（キタノカタ）
は最上義光朝臣の女（ムスメ）にてお駒前と云ひしも此
駒形山よりやおもひよりけむ名ならむかかし此

白雪が凍るように降り積もって、山の形が駁毛の馬の絵を見るようであったので、その時代の春に名高い山であったという。駒形の御嶽は駒形の神山であって、春の終わりから夏の初めに雪がまだらに消えていく頃、その雪によって馬の形が現れることから、そのような山の名前になったのである。また、この出羽の現在の山本郡上津野荘にも駒ヶ岳がある。これも雪の駒形である。それゆえに粕毛ヶ岳とも言い、麓の村名にも言われている。この村から白粕毛の駿馬が産まれたことから、この村名があるとも言われるが、雪の駒斑が現れるのを見ると、山の

中腹に粕毛の形をした駒が立っている。この雪形から駒ヶ岳と呼ばれるようになったのであろう。また信濃国の駒ヶ岳には神馬が今もいることが『新著聞集』に詳しく見えているが、そこでも雪の駒形が現れることを、その国の伊那郡の人が話していた。みちのくの駒の御嶽の山麓あたりは、出羽・陸奥ともに昔はもっぱら駒形荘と言っていたということである。麓の人は毎年この御駒山に参詣する御嶽講をしている。また関白秀次卿の北の方は最上義光朝臣の娘でお駒前と言ったのも、この駒形山から思いついた名前であろうか。

White snow accumulated as if freezing, and the shape of the mountain appeared like a painting of a dappled horse, so it was said to be a mountain famous in the spring of that era. Mount Komagata is the sacred mountain of the Komagata deity, and from late spring to early summer when the snow melts away in patches, the shape of a horse appears in that snow, which is how the mountain got its name. Also, in present-day Kamitsuno Manor in Yamamoto District of Dewa Province, there is Mount Komagatake. This too is a snow horse formation. Therefore it is also called Mount Kasugeke, and this name is also used for the village at its base. middle slopes stands a horse in the form of kasuage coloring. It was probably from this snow formation that it came to be called Mount Komagatake. Also, Mount Komagatake in Shinano Province is said to still have sacred horses, as described in detail in the "Shin Chomon-shū," and people from Ina District in that province also spoke of snow horse formations appearing there. The area around the foothills of Mount Koma in Michinoku was formerly called Komagata Manor in both Dewa and Mutsu provinces. People from the foothills make annual pilgrimages to this Mount Okoma as part of mountain worship associations. Also, the consort of Regent Hidetsugu was the daughter of Lord Mogami Yoshiaki and was called Okoma-mae - perhaps this name too was inspired by Mount Komagata.
