ほの浦にてたゝかひ畠山 敗軍（はいぐん）し其後又大勢にて衣笠（きぬかさ）の

三浦大介義明【隅切囲みの中】三浦の一族は頼朝に力を合わせようと三百余騎
で出陣したが、頼朝が石橋山の戦いで敗北し、行方が分からなくなったため、
空しく帰る道中で畠山重忠の五百余騎と行き会い、由比ヶ浜
で戦った。畠山軍は敗北し、その後また大軍で衣笠
城に押し寄せて攻め戦った。大介は味方の戦力が弱いのを見て「私は十三歳
から弓矢を取って、今年七十九歳、老いて病気が
再発している。この戦いに臨むことは老後の面目である。義明最後の戦い
をして見せよう」と白い直垂の袖の狭いものに烏帽子を引き立てて着け、
太刀だけを腰に付け馬に乗り、右手に鞭を抜き入れ、左に
手綱を掻い繰って、今にも出陣しようとしたところを、息子の別当義澄が父の
気配を見て馬の口に取り付いたのを「そこをのけ」と鞭で打っ
ても、兜をかぶっているので痛まず、無理やり城中へ引き入れた。これは大介が諸
兵士に励みを与えるための計略であった。

Miura Daisuke Yoshiaki【In corner-cut frame】The Miura clan set out with over three hundred mounted warriors
to join forces with Yoritomo, but when Yoritomo was defeated at the Battle of Ishibashiyama and his whereabouts became unknown,
they were returning empty-handed when they encountered Hatakeyama Shigetada's force of over five hundred riders at Yuigahama
and fought a battle. The Hatakeyama army was defeated, but later they again pressed forward with a large force to attack
Kinugasa Castle. Daisuke, seeing that his allies' strength was weak, said, "I have taken up the bow and arrow since I was thirteen years old,
and now I am seventy-nine years old, aged and with my illness
recurring. To face this battle is the honor of my old age. I will show you Yoshiaki's final battle,"
and donned a white hitatare with narrow sleeves and a pulled-up eboshi cap,
fastened only a sword to his waist, mounted his horse, drew his whip in his right hand, and gathered
the reins in his left, about to ride out when his son Bettō Yoshizumi, seeing his father's
determination, grabbed the horse's bridle. Even when struck with the whip and told to "get out of the way,"
the blows didn't hurt because of his helmet, so he forcibly pulled his father back into the castle. This was Daisuke's
stratagem to inspire his soldiers.
